Note To Self….

I have my tempo run this morning- I think I’m going to cut it down to 20 minutes with a mile warm-up, 20 minute tempo, then meet my girlfriends to run for 45 minutes.

Yesterday I did my long run with Steph, we did 14 miles. I didn’t want to do the hills of Westminster, but we did. Mental note: when it gets warmer outside I’ve got to do my long runs on the flat surface and do them much faster. On the hills, you just can’t go that fast and the combination of the cold weather and the hills is demoralizing, and I’m running slower each day…not the best venue to run fast and I can tell from my legs that they’re getting lethargic and not doing well becuase I’m not getting all the junk out of them and just not doing my recovery runs fast enough… this morning should be fun though, my friend Tuba is back from being out of town and its always fun running with her!

Rest of today’s schedule: Pilates this afternoon followed by my 2nd run.

Running Stride Suffers…

I’m back.. Got the flip video camera working again.  With my hectic schedule, it’s so much easier just to video document everything to help me remember everything that goes on in my day!

Everything is going well; I am running hopefully either my tempo run today or my long run, but hopefully not both. Last few weeks, thanks to the rain, I’ve been doing both and it’s been really hard. My long runs have gotten relatively short, they’ve been between 12 and 14 miles and they’ve been almost impossible to do, which I attribute to a poor state of mind for it, the weather, and all my hormone levels are still way off so its hard to focus at much as I’d like.

I ended up meeting my friend Steph for my run, we did 14 miles on the hills. It feels like the hills are keeping me from getting a full stride which might be why my legs are so tired.  My coach is trying to get me to run only one or two days a week on hills but I’m so committed to seeing my friends that I always end up finding my way back there. Tomorrow is the last day of the week we run together so I’m just aiming for 9 or 10 miles.

I did a 20 minute tempo today which did not go well.  I started it at only 1 mile into my run & my legs weren’t warmed up so the first mile was only 7:06 and the 2nd mile was 6:36 and the last mile was 6:00 but it was on a very hilly course and it’s only 25 degrees, so I guess its all relative.

For the family, t’s another triple header- 5pm is meet your coach night, pickup from gymnastics, and Daniel’s basketball game.  We’ll make it work somehow… Daniel’s also got a spelling test tomorrow but forgot to bring his words home to study

Tempo Run, Long Run and a Lot of Rain

It’s going to be a very busy day for everybody… I’m going to try to do my tempo run and my long run today, which is a weird combination but tomorrow its supposed to rain…. so I’ll probably have to train inside.

8×1000 at 5 Minute Pace

I got a workout in this morning of 8×1000 after a 3 mile warm-up.  It was hard to allow myself to do that little-bit, but I felt it was the right call. I changed my speed as well; I started at a 5:07 pace and brought it down to a 5:00 pace. I think it will help my legs heal. Then I did a 2 mile cool down instead of 3 mile, and did a simple 2 miles this afternoon for my 2nd workout.
