Great Start, Bad Finish

My foot is really tight today. I had a great workout yesterday- 3 mile warm-up, 6 x 1 mile with a 2:30 rest (normally I do a 4 minute rest) and I did them at 6:10 with the last 2 at a 6:07 pace and the workout went great, my warm-down was even great….until about halfway through, I ripped my plantar fascia again. I don’t think it’s a bad rip, but it does feel like a rip. My 2nd workout I could barely get 2 miles in, I was limping so bad.

Last night was horrible, my foot was so swollen.  I taped it, but I don’t think it helped much. I’m debating whether or not I can even run with this pain-I’m hobbling. It’s getting to the point where I’m so old, that if I have a hard workout the day after, I really struggle to recover. I’m supposed to meet my friend to run at least 9 miles, but I may have to push it off until Friday because I just am hobbling too much.

On a lighter note, Daniel just won his first basketball playoff game last night, so that’s going well, Katie practices gymnastics with varsity tonight so she won’t get out until 6pm and I’ve got a 3pm interview with Runner’s World so it’ll be a tough day to get both workouts in and get everything ready for, well, life.

Trying a More Stable Shoe

brooks defyance 3I’m so excited! For my morning workout I’ll be running with 5 of us women and my friend Jim.  It’s so much fun, but  I really need to start opening up my stride and going faster because I’ve been running slower and that may be part of the reason  I’m a little sore.  I’m wearing a new form of shoes- the Brooks Defyance 3 to help increase my chances of relieving my plantar fascia tear- this shoe has a more stable platform than what I’ve been wearing in the past, so I’m looking forward to running in it!
